Hen/i

I'm Heni and this is my blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

I was born in South Korea, grew up in the States and currently living in Germany (Derzeit lebe ich in Deutschland).

Although I have a diverse background which includes creative direction, video, writing, radio, sound art, dance, physical theater, choreography and coding,  I can't really take credit for anything that comes out of it. I'm simply the vessel through which the shared consciousness flows and attempts to takes form. So my real job is simply to stay clean and remain accessible, to work with or against constraints and guide, flow with and maintain rigor.

And although I tend to be a bit of a loner, i have the tendency to work collectively. Over the years, I've co-founded five collectives, the most recent being moos.garden() a co-living, co-working community project, Stratofyzika, an intermedia performance collective,  and A.R.G. (Anomalous Research Group). My favorite project I have the pleasure to be a part of at the moment is The Hologram, a P2P collective healthcare project.

The Calling

If you ignore your calling, one could say you are not living life but rather going through the motions.   Yet, being gutsy, strong-willed, and driven enough to take that journey can be difficult to muster. This piece is a curation of examples attempting to answer questions about what is free

Loaf is the New Love

I see two kinds of loaves: temporary loaves that happen in wonderful, strange, fleeting moments and well, that’s it. The other version of loaf which we convinced ourselves exists is just an illusion. It’s a holiday greeting card whereby the manufacturers tried very hard to make loaf into

Psychomagic and the Power of Imagination

The Holy Mountain is a cult classic film from the 70’s with surrealist scenarios and stark imagery that looks as if they could be tarot cards. It turns out creator of the film, Alejandro Jodorowsky is also a Taroist and helps people to examine their family tree to create

The Implicit Question in Conversations

I’ll be honest, I have this recurring frustration that I have a hard time being heard; that my voice is small and I often have to repeat what I just said.  Maybe because on a decibel scale my speaking voice registers more like "rustling leaves" than "normal conversation".  Or

Windows of Time (repost from moos.garden June 2020)

Time is a precious commodity. Given freely, we delight in the seemingly endless pool of possibilities. Consider the urban drift (a concept derived from the Situationists) in which you just wander around, open to getting lost.  You follow your nose, your whims, and if it's too difficult, just take the
